Applicants must provide Iowa Department of Education bus routing data confirming school visit feasibility and proof of vehicle insurance meeting state minimums. Priority is given to operators that can cover both the northwest and southeast quadrants within a single grant year.
Unlike Nebraska proposals, Iowa requires route maps demonstrating service to counties with population densities below 15 persons per square mile and verification that all activities align with the Iowa Core Science Standards. Awards between $3,000 and $10,000 cover fuel, equipment maintenance, and instructor mileage at the state rate. The July-to-June cycle demands monthly route logs and gender-disaggregated attendance records submitted through the state's education portal.
